Adventure pass for the ascent weekend in the Jungfrau Region

The Grindelwald First area is Switzerland’s adventure center and will be open from May 13, 2021. Just in time for the Ascension weekend. The spectacular “First Cliff Walk by Tissot” is one of the reasons why First ob Grindelwald deserves the title “Top of Adventure”. The footbridge protrudes 45 meters over the steep rocky slopes into nowhere. Directly opposite one of the most famous mountains in the world towers up: the Eiger.

The thrill has only just begun with the walk on the Cliff Walk jetty. You continue at the mountain station with the First Flieger, a Tyrolienne that is unique in Europe. You can whiz down to Schreckfeld at a height of up to fifty meters and secured in a harness. This attraction is known in the US as the Zip Rider.

The First Glider then takes you back and forth between Schreckfeld and First: up to four people hang in a glider that is modeled after an eagle, much like in a delta glider. If you want to continue adventurously towards the valley, you can switch to a scooter bike in Bort and ride it 4.5 kilometers to Grindelwald.

The adventure pass for the Jungfrau Region

Unlimited adventure pass! The Top of Europe Pass really includes everything: any number of trips on the entire Jungfrau Railways route network including unlimited to the Jungfraujoch (including the new Eiger Express), Grindelwald First, Kleine Scheidegg, Männlichen and Harder Kulm. The pass is available as a 3-8 day pass from CHF 149 with Half-Fare travelcard or as a season pass from CHF 369. Children up to six years of age travel free, children between 6-15 years of age unlimited for CHF 30.-.

Playing and hiking – family welcome

For families with small children who do not want to or cannot aim high, a visit to the Bort Alpine playground is worthwhile. On 700 square meters there is a mountain stream to dam and wild animals to greet. Marmots and squirrels await them in the form of seesaws. Children can improve their balance by balancing on nets and ropes and maybe prepare for an upcoming hike.

A small panoramic hike is open for hikers on the ascent weekend. In addition, visitors can go on a small circular hiking trail near Schreckfeld and have the opportunity to hike to Bort.

If you want to explore the region on foot in the coming weeks, we recommend the hike to the Bachalpsee. The Schreckhorn is reflected in the crystal clear water when there is no wind. The lake travels around the world as a postcard, but no photo can capture the charisma of the mountain lake. You have to get an idea for yourself. It’s not exhausting. The Bachalpsee can be reached on foot from First in less than an hour.

From mountain spring to winter wonderland

On the Jungfraujoch, guests can immerse themselves in a world of ice and snow. The new Eiger Express takes passengers from the Grindelwald Terminal to the Eigergletscher station in just 15 minutes. From there, the Jungfrau Railway takes you to the Jungfraujoch in 25 minutes.

Grindelwald Terminal has a direct public transport connection and has a multi-storey car park with over 1,000 parking spaces. Visitors can conveniently book parking tickets online in advance.

Highlights on the Jungfraujoch

The Jungfraujoch proudly and rightly bears the title Top of Europe. On the one hand you can see the Swiss Plateau as far as France, on the other the Aletsch Glacier and the four-thousand-meter peaks. Also to visit: the Alpine Sensation, an adventure world about the history of the construction of the railway and the station.

The Ice Palace offers a view of the Arctic Ocean from below. It is a system of corridors and halls that mountain guides dug deep into the “eternal ice” in the 1930s. However, it is not simply a human structure, it also provides an insight into the forces of nature: into the world of the glacier with its many layers from different climatic periods.

Detour to Interlaken

A short detour to the Harder Kulm – Top of Interlaken viewing platform is also worthwhile. A breathtaking view awaits all visitors on Interlaken’s local mountain. The funicular takes you up steeply, the viewing platform (reachable in 10 minutes) is 1322 meters above sea level and offers a spectacular view of Lake Brienz and Lake Thun as well as the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. Including daily evening trips for sunset fans. For hungry mouths there is a deluxe take away and the sun terrace is available to guests with tables and benches.

All excursion destinations are part of the Top of Europe Pass. Travel carefree with the new pass through the Jungfrau Region.
