Afghanistan: Daesh claims responsibility for the attack on a bus in Kabul

The threat of Daesh still looms. The terrorist group claimed responsibility on Sunday for a bomb attack against a bus in Kabul, Afghanistan, in which a woman was killed and three people were injured.

This is the second bomb attack in the capital in a short period of time. On Friday, ten people died in an explosion at a mosque as worshipers performed their religious rituals. No group has yet claimed responsibility for this attack.

Over the past two weeks, during Ramadan, dozens of people have been killed and dozens more injured in deadly attacks. Daesh has claimed responsibility for several, in particular those targeting minority Shiite and Sufi communities in Afghanistan, which has a Sunni majority.

Taliban officials, who have taken over the country since last August, have insisted that their forces have defeated Daesh. However, analysts say the jihadist group remains a major security concern within the country.

Kabul police have promised to “guarantee security” during the Eid al-Fitr holiday, which marks the end of Ramadan on Sunday.
