Should we suspend or even eliminate the minority excuse for minors involved in serious crimes? This is the debate that Prime Minister Gabriel Attal wishes to open, while the hyperviolence of adolescents is making headlines. Last weekend, Matisse, a teenager from Châteauroux, was stabbed to death by another 15-year-old teenager.
Questioned this Thursday morning on the subject, MP Karl Olive was firm in his position. “I am for the removal of the minority excuse,” he assures on the set of La Grande interview Europe 1-CNews. “Twenty years ago, adolescents had respect for authority. They did not come to contact when they saw a police officer, they responded with respect. Today, these young people between 12 and 17 years old, they come to contact. However, juvenile delinquency must be taken head-on,” he assures.

Karl Olive therefore proposes to financially sanction juvenile delinquents, with a system of salary deduction when they start working. “We need slaps, forgive me. We need concrete examples that speak to the times with a hand, a hand that is a hand of firmness,” he explains.
The former mayor of Poissy also insists on the responsibility of the State to enforce authority, thus refuting the idea that this violence is linked to immigration. “The rules. It’s like in sport, they are not there to be interpreted, they are there to be applied. And someone who does not respect the rules, like in sport, is condemned.
