On Friday evening, after his third place in the shortened Lauberhorn descent, Beat Feuz took part in the official award ceremony in the Bernese mountain village. He should have appeared on the stage again on Saturday, as he raced to second place behind winner Kriechmayr on the second descent. But the 34-year-old will not attend the award ceremony on Saturday. Only Domink Paris and Vincent Kriechmayr stood on the stage in the village square.
According to the organizers, Feuz left to see his girlfriend. No wonder: his partner Katrin Triendl is very pregnant, the birth of their second child is due at the end of the month. The couple already have three-year-old daughter Clea together.
Even before the Lauberhorn races, it was clear that Feuz might have to leave. Should the second offspring decide to come earlier, Feuz had taken precautions. He announced at the beginning of the week: “I would have a helicopter in hand that could be in Wengen relatively quickly and fly me home.” However, this plan was not necessary. Feuz completed all three races and landed on the podium twice.
