After a fall – 59-year-old motorcycle driver died in an accident

A fatal motorcycle accident occurred on Friday morning on the B96 near Teufenbach-Katsch (Murau district). The cause of the accident is the subject of ongoing investigations.

A 59-year-old Upper Austrian rode his motorcycle towards Murau around 10 a.m. At kilometer 26.1 of the road, the man drove into a car driving in front of him for reasons that are currently unclear. The 59-year-old fell and crashed into an oncoming car from the Netherlands. The motorcycle driver died at the scene of the accident. The public prosecutor’s office in Leoben ordered the autopsy of the body and the appointment of an accident expert. The investigations are being conducted by the Scheifling Police Inspectorate. The B96 was closed to all traffic for around two hours. Due to the arrival traffic to the Formula 1 event in Spielberg, there was a significant traffic jam.
