Last generation strikes at the Baltic Sea

The activists of the last generation are currently targeting the far north. After several actions against luxury facilities on the North Sea, this time a yacht on the Baltic Sea is being targeted. The members of the group also get to work on the water.
After various actions on Sylt, the activists of the Last Generation group struck again in the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein. This time at the Baltic Sea. In Neustadt, a yacht was sprayed with paint, as can be seen in videos and pictures on Twitter. The people also boarded the boat in orange vests and unfurled a banner that read “Your luxury = our crop failures”. As before on the North Sea island, another message this time was “For whom are you doing politics, Chancellor Scholz?” to read.
The aim of the last generation is to attract as much attention as possible with the campaigns, which they regularly succeed in doing. A post on Twitter said: “We have just painted the water in the Neustadt marina on the Baltic Sea bright green and marked a yacht in orange.” And further: “Global warming is already causing enormous warming of the seas, which is leading to acidification and algae growth. We need a climate policy that initiates radical change and protects everyone’s life.”
The activists had previously started various actions on the other side of the state: On Sylt, among other things, they sprayed orange on a private jet, as well as a luxury hotel and a luxury fashion house. A golf course was also stormed and a tree and flowers were planted there. With their actions, the last generation wants to draw attention to the fact that rich people with their lifestyle produce significantly more carbon dioxide than normal citizens.
Among other things, the group calls for the introduction of a social council to develop measures for Germany to “end the use of fossil raw materials in a socially just manner” by 2030, as well as a speed limit of 100 kilometers per hour and a permanent 9-euro ticket.
Group is not considered extremist
The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution does not classify the last generation as extremist. However, the activists are being investigated for “forming a criminal organization”. At the instigation of the Munich public prosecutor’s office, raids were carried out in seven federal states in May. The procedure was criticized by Climate Protection Minister Robert Habeck, who called it “completely absurd”.
Lawyer Jan Siebenhüner answered the question of what characterizes a criminal organization to ntv after the raid: “A group becomes a criminal organization when it comes together for an overriding purpose, organizational structures within this organization are recognizable that point to a specific duration, and at least three people belong to this association at the end. This association must set itself the goal of committing crimes that carry a maximum penalty of imprisonment of at least two years.”
In his eyes, the judiciary can certainly assume that the last generation is a criminal organization based on the many actions of the activists.
