The popular expert Albert Maier has stopped at “Bares for Rares”. But could he come back again?

On Sunday (July 9th) the last “Bares for Rares” episode with the art and antiques expert Albert Maier (74) flickered on the ZDF screens. Horst Lichter (61) even shed a little tears in view of the sad farewell, as the moderator of “Bares for Rares” appreciated the concentrated expertise of his long-standing expert.

“For me, Albert Maier is really an extraordinary, great person, whom I have taken to my heart and from whom I have learned an awful lot – in front of and behind the camera”, he now explained to the “Bild” newspaper.

Will Albert Maier return after his “Bares for Rares” farewell?

Lichter wishes art professional Maier, who will be 75 at the end of the year, “from the bottom of my heart that he will have a few more decades of joy and enjoy the harvest he has brought in, with his charming wife and his really great son, to the he is incredibly proud and can be.” But will the antiques professional return to the ZDF program? With the sentence “He will always find an open door with the entire ‘Bares for Rares’ team”, at least Lichter does not seem to rule this out.

Albert Maier is looking forward to his retirement “without a guilty conscience”

The acclaimed art expert, meanwhile, seems more excited about his upcoming – and well-deserved – retirement. “At an age when others are retiring, ZDF asked ten years ago to work as an expert on ‘Bares for Rares’,” explains Maier, adding: “This really appealed to me because I was in my I had accumulated a lot of knowledge over my long life as a dealer and this gave me the opportunity to pass this knowledge on to a broad, interested audience.”

He “enjoyed his time at “Bares für Rares”, learned a lot, met great people and experienced a lot”. But now he’s turning 75, so he feels he can retire “without a guilty conscience.” At least these words don’t sound like Albert Maier’s return to ZDF anytime soon.
