After Christmas, the Paris Bourse sets itself a new record

The Paris Bourse set a new record in session Tuesday, exceeding its mark of November 19, carried by a bullish rally at the end of the year and sweeping away short-term fears concerning the impact of the pandemic.

The flagship CAC 40 index reached its high 7,183.35 points 11:17, an increase of 0.60% from the close on Monday. His previous record was 7,183.08 points.

With the end of the year celebrations, most of the players have left the market, there is very little active asset management. The indices no longer have a barrier to their progress, let themselves be carried away, summarizes AFP Nicolas Chron, strategist for Zonebourse, noting that historically, December is the second of the best months of the year. Since December 1, the Parisian index has gained nearly 7%.

The Parisian coast had its worst session in a year and a half (-4.75%), on November 26, under the effect of the discovery of the Omicron variant of Covid-19.

Nothing seems to be able to scare the markets, not even the explosion of contaminations in France, in Europe and in the world of this same variant.

The markets understood that the situation was serious, but under control and not catastrophic, supports Nicolas Chron.

Because if the variant is more contagious, the first studies tend to show that its danger is lower, in terms of death and hospitalization.

The health restriction measures put in place by governments, as in France on Monday, block economic activity less than the confinements decreed in previous waves and economic life does not stop as in March 2020.

Almost all stocks were taking advantage of the plan of the day, only two being negative.

Among the most significant increases, we find the companies with the most progress of the year, such as Veolia (+ 2.02% 32.34 euros), the analysis laboratory Eurofins Scientific (+ 1.68% 111.54 euros), or even Capgemini (+ 1.63% 218.60 euros).

These three groups have taken more than 60% on the stock market since January 1.
