  • Chancellor Walter Thurnherr (centre) apparently does not want to stand for re-election at the end of the year. This is reported by the “Tages-Anzeiger”.
  • At 1.30 p.m. Thurnherr appears before the media. You can see the media conference live here.
  • The 60-year-old held the office of Chancellor for eight years. As such, he manages the business of the Federal Council and is also referred to as the “eighth Federal Councilor”.
  • Thurnherr’s successor will be determined on December 13th in the general election of the Federal Council.
