The successful British author has posted a new children's novel she wrote 10 years ago.

The imagination of J.K. Rowling has not ceased to amaze us. While British children are still confined, the best-selling author has decided to publish a new story. It is a tale called The Ickabog which she had written for her children several years ago. Found in his attic a few weeks ago, the manuscript had indeed been left abandoned. By falling back on it by chance, J.K. Rowling then decided to share this unique story with the rest of the world. After all, with the health crisis, most countries are confined and all means are good for keeping fans and especially the little ones.

Obviously, the author wanted to be clear on one thing: it is not at all a spin off ofHarry potter. The Ickabog is a completely different story, coming from another universe imagined by J.K Rowling. On her Twitter account, she explains: "Above all, I would like to prevent any confusion: this is not a spin off Harry potter. (…) I always wanted to publish it but after the release of the last Harry Potter, I wrote two novels for adults. Until very recently, the only people who read The Ickabog were my children. Over time, I came to believe that this tale was for my family only. "

J.K. Rowling even revealed photos of the box where this mysterious tale was kept. She explains all the emotion she had when finding this story for children in her attic: "Opening the box was like opening a time capsule. Most of the story was handwritten, but some passages were written on the computer." For the past few weeks, the author has therefore worked on rewriting this story. This is how she decided to publish for free The Ickabog. Until July 10, new chapters of this unpublished tale will be put online every week.

J.K Rowling will even organize a drawing competition for children to illustrate The Ickabog. The winners will be able to see their works in the printed version of the book which will be available from next November: "All the profits from this book will be donated to" groups particularly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic " explains the writer on Twitter. The first chapters of this new novel are available on the dedicated site, in English, but several translations are awaited.
