After house collapse: Florida death toll rises to 90

The fate of 31 other people is currently unknown, said the mayor of Miami-Dade, Daniella Levine Cava, on Sunday. “Our hearts and thoughts are always with those we have lost, with the families who are grieving, and with those who are still waiting.”

The residential complex with around 130 units had partially collapsed on June 24th in Surfside near Miami for reasons that are still unexplained. The rest of the building, in danger of collapsing, was later deliberately blown up. The authorities assume that there are no more survivors to be found in the ruins. In the meantime, the rescue has been converted into a salvage operation. On Saturday, the confirmed death toll was 86.
