Kate’s apology is far from the end of the issue
The family portrait, released on Sunday (March 10), attracted a lot of attention as it is the first official picture of Kate since her abdominal surgery in January. But it caused a scandal after closer inspection revealed that it had been manipulated. Several news agencies that published the image on behalf of the palace issued a deletion notice on Sunday evening.
The Daily Mail made 16 edited spots in the photo that shows Prince William’s wife (41) beaming amidst her three children. The intense criticism of the image even prompted an unusual response from Kate, who admitted on social media on Monday (March 12): “Like many amateur photographers, I occasionally experiment with editing. I would like to apologize for the confusion the family photo we published yesterday.”
But the matter is far from over for the Royal Family. The US news channel CNN stated in a post that he is reviewing all other official photos: “CNN is currently reviewing all handout photos previously provided by Kensington Palace.” It is “unacceptable to move, change or manipulate the pixels of an image.” This would change the reality of the situation that the image is intended to document, it goes on to say.
