It is the fans of Lucifer, in PLS since the end of the Netflix series, who will be happy. Tom Ellis has landed a new role alongside Sterling K. Brown.
Lucifer star Tom Ellis will return with a major role in a new series. This is Washington Black, the adaptation of Esi Edugyan’s novel with Sterling K. Brown, the emblematic Randall Pearson of This Is Us. The latter holds one of the main roles, which received a direct order from from the Hulu platform. One of The Twilight Zone’s screenwriters, Selwyn Seyfu Hinds, is adapting the 9-episode miniseries for 20th Television.
Washington Black follows the extraordinary 19th century adventures of George Washington “Wash” Black – an 11-year-old boy on a Barbadian sugar cane plantation who must flee after a shocking death threatens to alter his life.
Tom Ellis will play a character far from Morningstar… He will play Christopher “Titch” Wilde, an eccentric and passionate steampunk inventor whose youthful enthusiasm masks an inner vulnerability.
A disturbing death on his family’s sugar cane plantation catapults Titch on a remarkable journey with young George Washington Black by his side. Titch finds himself thrust into the position of mentor and father figure to Wash – a role he is ill-prepared for.
Sterling K. Brown meanwhile will play the gregarious and larger-than-life Medwin Harris, who traveled the world after a traumatic childhood as a black refugee in Nova Scotia. The young Wash will become his protege and the meeting with this young boy will turn his life upside down. In contact with him, Medwin will learn to dream again.
Before joining the set of Washington Black, Tom Ellis recently wrapped filming Players, a romantic comedy from Netflix starring Gina Rodriguez and Damon Wayans Jr.
