With the constant increase in the number of electric cars in circulation in France, many brands have decided in recent years to install charging stations in the parking lots of their establishments. This is why we now find Tesla Superchargers in front of Casino group hypermarkets, or even near Lidl stores.

The hard-discount brand went further recently by launching a home charging station at a knockdown price, priced from €349. For its part, Carrefour announced in April 2023 the arrival of charging stations near Carrefour Markets, its local supermarkets.

Recently, we mentioned in our columns the surprise announcement from McDonald’s. In fact, the famous fast-food restaurants will soon offer charging stations in their parking lots. In total, almost 2000 devices will be installed by 2025. To do this, the American giant has signed a partnership with Izivia, a subsidiary of EDF.

Marie Blachère will install terminals in front of her bakeries from 2024

It is now the turn of the Marie Blachère bakery brand to go electric. Indeed, the chain also plans to install terminals in front of its stores. Like McDonald’s, the company has signed a partnership with an energy supplier, namely Powerdot. Initially, Powerdot will equip all of the Marie Blachère bakeries which belong to the group’s real estate company. That is to say around fifty establishments out of the 700 existing stores in France.

For other franchised establishments, Powerdot will be able to benefit from its position as a privileged partner to equip them. According to the brand, the first terminals will be installed at the beginning of 2024, they should offer between 2 to 8 charging points depending on the size of the parking lots. “For the largest, we provide eight places with a transformer station of up to 600 kW. explains Matthieu Dischamps, director of Powerdot France.

For the moment, we do not yet know the prices for charging at the terminals accessible at Marie Blachère. In any case, this partnership will allow the bakery brand to strengthen its already comfortable position in the fast food market. Because, Marie Blachère is the third largest restaurant chain in Francejust behind Burger King and McDonald’s.
