This is one of Netflix’s most exciting projects. Guillermo del Toro is currently working on a new adaptation of Mary Shelley’s novel Frankenstein. The cast had expanded over the months, with Oscar Isaac in the role of the mad scientist and Andrew Garfield in that of the creature returned from the dead. But the former interpreter of Spider-Man had to leave his place.

Deadline reveals in fact that Garfield had to withdraw from the project after a conflict of interest following the actors’ and writers’ strike. It was ultimately Jacob Elordi who was chosen to play the monster. The actor is currently in the cinema and streaming news with the release in our theaters of Priscilla where he plays Elvis and Saltburn on Prime Video.

Elordi is not his first collaboration with Netflix. It is also via this platform that the 26-year-old actor exploded into the eyes of the general public a few years ago, thanks to The Kissing Booth trilogy (films that he repudiates today).

A few years later, the actor has a series of tempting projects and shows that he is not just a pretty face.

The rest of the cast of Frankenstein is particularly interesting: in addition to Isaac and Elordi, we will also find Mia Goth, Christoph Waltz, Felix Kammerer (Nothing New in the West), Lars Mikkelsen, David Bradley (Harry Potter) and Christian Convery (Sweet Tooth).

Filming of this new del Toro should begin in 2024 for release in 2025. Netflix revealed the official synopsis a few months ago. If the scenario should be faithful to the novel, the director will add his touch and make it an amazing fantasy story:

Eastern Europe, 19th century. Doctor Pretorious sets out in search of Frankenstein, who was believed to have died in a fire forty years ago. Its goal is to continue the experiments of the monster’s creator, Doctor Frankenstein.
