After the accidental death of Treat Williams
The person who caused the accident pleads guilty and receives punishment

In the trial surrounding the accidental death of US actor Treat Williams, the driver pleaded guilty – and the court handed down a verdict.
US actor Treat Williams (1951-2023) died in a car accident on June 12, 2023. Now the man who caused the accident has pleaded guilty in court in Bennington, Vermont, to a previously downgraded charge – negligent driving resulting in death.
Deferred sentence, suspended sentence, driving license revocation and a course
Koss, who knew Williams, turned left into a parking lot in a Honda SUV on June 12. He overlooked Williams’ oncoming motorcycle, which led to a collision. Williams, then 71, was wearing a helmet but suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York, where he was pronounced dead. The police announced this at the time.
Treat Williams’ family forgives the unfortunate driver
After the accident, Koss called Williams’ wife to tell her what had happened. Bennington County Prosecutor Erica Marthage said Koss accepted responsibility for the accident from the beginning. At Friday’s hearing, Koss apologized again and expressed his condolences to Williams’ family and fans. “I am here to apologize and take responsibility for this tragic accident,” he told the court.
Williams’ son Gill (32) spoke directly to Koss. The family does not want to press charges or send Koss to prison, he said. “I forgive you, and I hope you forgive yourself,” he said. He also added: “I really wish you hadn’t killed my father – I just had to say that.” Gill Williams said his father was “everything” to the family and an exceptional person who lived life to the full and it was now difficult to figure out what to do next. His father had given him the motorcycle the day before the accident and he was “the most reliable person in the world,” said Gill Williams.
Pam Williams also said in her statement that it was a tragic accident and that she hopes Koss can forgive herself. “Our lives will never be the same, our family has been torn apart, and there remains a huge void that cannot possibly be filled,” Pam Williams wrote in her statement.
Koss originally pleaded not guilty to a charge of gross negligent driving resulting in death. If convicted, he would have faced a prison sentence of up to 15 years.
Hollywood is still mourning
Treat Williams was honored last week by his television series “Blue Bloods.” He had a nearly 50-year career with more than 120 television and film roles. He was also known for series such as “Everwood” and “White Collar”.
His representative Barry McPherson confirmed the death to the public on June 12th. “He was killed this afternoon. He was turning left or right and a car cut him off,” McPherson said at the time to People. “I’m just devastated. He was the nicest guy. He was so talented.”
Numerous colleagues such as John Travolta (70), Sharon Stone (65) and Kim Cattrall (67) expressed their dismay. Vanessa Hudgens (35) also mourned publicly in an Instagram story. She played his daughter in Manhattan Queen. “He was a great movie dad and an even better person,” the “High School Musical” star explained. “Treat Williams was a fantastic actor and a good soul, a joy to have around.”
