Good news for this DC anti-heroine
Ever since James Gunn and Peter Safran took the reins of the DC Cinematic Universe, heads have been rolling. Henry Cavill was not called for Superman Legacy and the same goes for his comrades from the Justice League according to information from Variety. A few hours ago, we also learned that Margot Robbie was ready to pass the torch of Harley Quinn without any ounce of regret. Except that James Gunn could convince her to return to the new DC cinema and TV universe, because for him, there is no replacement.
“I haven’t told Margot about Harley Quinn in a long time. But I would love to work with her again for this role or another. As of now, there are no plans for anyone else to play Harley Quinn. I mean apart from in Joker 2 or the animated series” (via Threads). As we can read, no plan to oust Margot Robbie from the next DC universe that is being created. A statement which gave a little morale boost to the actress’s fans. And for good reason, a few hours ago, the latter somehow said goodbye to her totally crazy and cult character.
Margot Robbie can still play Harley Quinn
“I always wanted Harley Quinn to be a character that could be played by other actresses, like so many other iconic male characters. It was always the dream for her. Harley is so fun and can go in so many different directions. If you give it to another actress, you wonder what she’s going to do with it. The possibilities are limitless » said Margot Robbie (via Variety). A not really positive message, although she does not seem to have closed the door categorically.
The fact remains that in any case, if she wishes, she can come back at any time. James Gunn is more than open to the idea of working with Margot Robbie again, and it’s no wonder. The success of The Suicide Squad still rests largely on her, even if unlike the 2016 version, the dad from Guardians of the Galaxy was able to bring the other members of Task Force X into existence.
