after the Rifter, the electric minivan gets a makeover

After presenting a timid redesign of the E-Rifter, its electric MPV, Peugeot has just unveiled the revamped version of its power minivan: the E-Traveller. Here again, no big improvements, with the exception of autonomy and on-board equipment.

Peugeot continues its redesign of the different models in its electric range. After the E-2008 in May 2023, followed by the Peugeot e-3008 at the start of the 2023 school year, the Lion brand recently lifted the veil on the reissue of the E-Rifter, its electric MPV. A new version that is rather shy in terms of new features, which simply offers a modernized design and slightly greater autonomy.

On this Tuesday, November 14, 2023, the French company has just presented the makeover carried out on the E-Traveller, its electric minivan dedicated to large families and people transport professionals. Here again, the changes made are minimal.

Let’s start with the design. As on the E-Rifter, the majority of the alterations are concentrated on the front of the minivan. We find the three-claw light signature characteristic of the manufacturer’s latest models, while the new coat of arms sits in the center of the redesigned grille. The shield also gets a facelift and has been optimized to offer more protection and aerodynamics.

The interior of the E-Traveller gives pride of place to digital technology

In the passenger compartment, however, the modifications are more substantial. First of all, the new e-Traveller includes standard 10-inch digital instrument cluster to display essential information such as energy level for example. In the center, we also find as standard a new 10-inch infotainment touchscreen in HD definition, from which you can control the audio system or connected navigation. According to Peugeot, the voice assistant from the manufacturer OK Peugeot is also included.

That’s not all since the E-Traveller also offers:

  • wireless connection to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • a wireless smartphone charger near the front center console
  • two USB-C sockets on the dashboard and two other USB-C sockets in the rear
  • two 12V sockets in the glove box and trunk

New engine and more autonomy

In addition to a comprehensive set of driving aids (driver fatigue alert, speed sign reading, lane keeping assist, etc.), the E-Traveller includes like the E-Rifter three driving modes (Eco, Power and Normal). Concerning the engine, the minivan has a new engine block offering power similar to the previous model, namely 100kW (136 hp) for a maximum torque of 260 Nm (maximum speed of 130 km/h).

If the engine power remains the same, Peugeot promises better autonomy thanks to the two available batteries:

  • the 50 kWh battery offers up to 224 km of autonomy
  • the 75 kWh battery makes it possible to reach the 350 km of autonomy (+20 km compared to the old pack)

As for recharging, we find in series a 7.4 kW single-phase on-board charger (the 11 kW three-phase is optional). Fast DC charging remains 100kW. Let’s conclude on volumes, the main selling point of this E-Traveller. Depending on the seat configurations, the driver will be able to transport up to 9 people with a 1500 liter trunk, or obtain 4,900 liters of cargo with 2 or 3 passengers. Concerning the prices and the availability date, you will have to wait a little longer.
