Krejcikova wins the French Open twice in under 24 hours

After her triumph in singles, the Czech Barbora Krejcikova also won the double title at the French Open for tennis professionals. The 25-year-old won the final with her compatriot Katerina Siniakova 6: 4, 6: 2 against the Americans Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Iga Swiatek. Krejcikova was the first player in 21 years and the seventh overall to achieve the feat of winning the trophies at the French Open in both singles and doubles.

The Frenchwoman Mary Pierce had recently succeeded in doing this. With Siniakova it was the second joint success at Stade Roland Garros after 2018, and both had triumphed at Wimbledon three years ago. As of this Monday, Krejcikova is again number one in the double world rankings.

More on that shortly.
