After the Uncharted movie, is another PlayStation classic coming to theaters?

The Uncharted film will start in German cinemas on February 17th, but another, equally popular PlayStation series is already being discussed for a possible screen appearance. We’re talking about Jak and Daxter.

Are PlayStation heroes making a comeback anytime soon?

Video game adaptations don’t exactly have the best reputations. Neither among film fans, nor among gamers. See Max Payne, Doom, Tomb Raider, Resident Evil and many more. Uncharted, on the other hand, wants to do better and appeal to both movie fans and gamers.

If the film is well received by the audience and the cash registers ring accordingly, then another game series from developer Naughty Dog could also come into play Comeback on the big screen celebrate: Jak and Daxter.

Uncharted director Ruben Fleischer wants to bring back the iconic duo and is already working on a concrete implementation, as he revealed in an interview. (Source: Digital Trends)

“I’m working on a version of Jak and Daxter right now and I think it would be really cool to bring it to life.”

And also “Nathan Drake” actor Tom Holland wants a Jak and Daxter movie. With A24, Holland even has a dream studio in mind for the project (source: Collider).

It is currently still uncertain whether Jak and Daxter will ever appear in cinemas, because neither Sony nor Naughty Dog have commented on the subject so far.

Who are Jak and Daxter?

In the days of the PlayStation 2, Jak and Daxter were a big deal! The series started as a colorful platformer and became one with the sequel Jak II: Renegade kid-friendly GTA alternative. Dark open world, fat guns and vehicle theft included.

The concept resonated with the players and it followed several sequels: Jak 3, the racing game Jak X, and the handheld offshoot Daxter for the PlayStation Portable. In 2009, Jak and Daxter: The Last Frontier was released, the last part of the series for the time being.
