Cinematographic productions are multiplying on the PlayStation side. After the success of the films Uncharted And Gran Turismothe Japanese brand does not intend to stop there.

Between cinema, video games and the recent release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2or even the small screen with the arrival of the series Twisted MetalPlayStation’s ambition to expand the popularity of its licenses is gradually starting to take shape.

If many films and series are already in preparation at Sony, the license Bloodborne could also benefit from the same treatment. According to recent clues, the city of Yharnam could soon emerge from obscurity to return not to PlayStation 5, but to the big screen.

A movie Bloodborne soon at the cinema?

On March 24, 2015, the PlayStation 4 exclusively welcomed one of its most emblematic titles: the aptly named Bloodborne. Developed by the talented teams at FromSoftware, most recently known for putting together the titanic Elden Ring, Bloodborne still remains acclaimed by a large community of players.

If some are impatiently awaiting a sequel, the announcement of a PC release or a PS5 remaster/remake, and Sony and FromSoftware are aware of the appeal of Bloodborneit seems that another avenue is being considered to immerse players back into the city of Yharnam.

Since the creation of the PlayStation Productions division in 2019, a branch of Sony designed to adapt its video games into films and series, the Japanese firm has continued to multiply its successes. At the start of the year, the series The Last of Us on HBO has also broken all records.

But according to the statements of an informant named Daniel Richtman (also known under the pseudonym DanielRPK), known for the reliability of his information, the license Bloodborne should indeed arrive in our cinemas.

A project in good hands?

If we still don’t know who will be directing, the adaptation of Bloodborne on the big screen would be written by Darren Lemke, who notably worked on the scripts for the films Shazam!, Gemini Manor even more anciently Lost (not to be confused with the television series). Lorenzo Di Bonaventura, whose name has already been seen in films G.I. Joe And transformerswould be responsible for production.

On paper, these names do not suggest as much hope as for the series The Last of Uswhich was then co-written by Craig Mazin, creator of the mini-series Chernobyl, and Neil Druckmann, lead author of the games of the same name. However, we will obviously have to wait to learn more about this possible film project. Bloodborne before being able to decide.

As a reminder, licenses such as Days Gone And Ghost of Tsushima should also be entitled to their own cinema adaptation, although we do not yet know when these will arrive. In 2020, Sony openly declared that ten adaptations of PlayStation games would see the light of day in films and series. So let’s hope that Bloodborne was part of this list…
