Current Woman: how the adventure began Do not forget the lyrics ?

Agathe: I've been singing since I was eight, I was part of a choir … I know it's hard to believe! But I still love to sing and perform. I am aware that I do not have the voice to make a great career but it has always been a pleasure for me to sing. Three years ago I told myself that I was going to try the casting of Do not forget the lyrics. Unfortunately at the time, I didn't even pass the first lyrics test … so it took a lot of revising to get up to speed. It was quite complicated because I was still studying pastry making so I didn't have a lot of time. Once that was all over, I was able to revise more. I went from two hours of revisions to sometimes five or six hours a day. In the end, I was just doing that with my days.

How did you experience the shooting of the show?

AT : I have very good memories of filming the show. When I became a maestro, it was the last recording of the day that I had a few days to get used to. Which was a good thing because I'm a very stressed person … We had to deal with this anxiety and in the first shows, we can see that I am not at all comfortable! (laughs) But it's mostly tiring, there isn't really any break time between each show, everything goes very fast so we don't really have time to realize what's going on. We just think about sleeping when it's over!

How do you manage to learn 800 songs including 400 by heart as you claim?

AT : I have a very specific method. I was inspired by methods taught to students who have a lot to learn. It is a method which is based on "the forgetting curve". We first learn the song the first time and we make reminders according to this curve, each time we are about to forget it. It is very effective since we learn without the slightest effort, we do booster shots just before she escapes of our head but at the same time, we do not bother for days on it. According to this curve, we know when the lyrics start to dissipate … it's practical.

What kind of relationship did you have with Nagui?

AT : I got on really well with him. We share many common values, especially on animal welfare, vegetarianism, vegetable gastronomy so I immediately felt the links between us. I was a little scared before I came, times when I'm supposed to chat with him between songs, but he's someone who knows how to ask the right questions to put introverted personalities like me at ease. He was very understanding.

What reaction did you have when you saw yourself on television?

AT : Frankly, it was not pleasant at all! Especially during the first broadcasts … There were several small hiccups. But in the end, quickly, it became a friendly moment that brought us together with my family. It was heartwarming for me to experience this with them every night. We were several generations around TV and then finally, over time … I didn't find myself that bad in my TV screen! It was even rather pleasant!
