The herd will be made up “among others of 2,000 ewes, cattle and horse teams surrounded by dancers, singers and circus performers. 2022 ewes more exactly, coming “from everywhere, from Bigorre, Landes, and even an urban shepherd from Massy with 350 ewes”, explains Jacques Pédehontaà, the “Mister tourism” of the Departmental Council of Pyrénées-Atlantiques and former president of the AADT.
Four hour parade
Four hours of parade are planned, departing from the top of the avenue at 1 p.m., with “Henry IV on his white horse” to open the transhumance, various tables retrace the evolution of transhumance and pastoralism, a procession punctuated by sheep and shepherds, patou dogs and border collies.
