German car manufacturers are among the most profitable in the world. Only Tesla, with a profit margin of 19.2 percent, is ahead of the trio Mercedes-Benz (15 percent), Volkswagen (13.3 percent) and BMW (10.9 percent), as calculations by the consulting firm EY have shown. At the bottom of the list of 14 companies are Suzuki (4.5 percent), Mazda (4.2 percent) and Nissan (2.5 percent). The first quarter of 2022 was taken into account.
