Artificial general intelligence could well compete with human intelligence within five years. In any case, this is what Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, said during a forum organized by Stanford University in the United States.
According to him, in the coming years, the evolution of technology will allow AI to have human-level consciousness, allowing it to take exams intended for humans.
General AI, concurrent or partner?
Until now, the results of AIs like ChatGPT on exams intended for human students have been random: while they obtained above-average results on certain admissions tests, they failed on various exams, notably in the medical field. But Jensen Huang is convinced that the result will be different five years from now.
The CEO of Nvidia is not the only one to have spoken out on the subject. Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, defines artificial general intelligence as “technology capable of working alongside humans in the workplace.” For the company behind ChatGPT, this technology offers “autonomous systems” allowing “human augmentation”.
As for Demis Hassabis, CEO of Google DeepMind, he predicts the emergence of artificial general intelligence as early as 2030.
