Russia reports new drone attacks on Moscow

For the sixth night in a row, there was a drone alarm in the Russian capital: once again, air traffic had to be temporarily suspended at all major airports around Moscow. According to the air defense, however, all drones are rendered harmless.
According to information from Moscow, the Russian air defense repelled several Ukrainian drone attacks over the capital region last night. According to the state news agency TASS, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that two drones had been shot down. In the third, the control system was disrupted. The drone then crashed into an unfinished building in a business and office district in the city with numerous high-rise buildings.
“Tonight, anti-aircraft forces shot down a drone in the Mozhaisky region of the Moscow region,” Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin told Telegram. “The second drone hit a building under construction in the city,” he added. According to initial information, there were no injuries. An “explosion” was heard in a Moscow business district, the Ria Novosti news agency reported. Shortly thereafter, smoke rose above buildings.
Operations at the capital’s airports Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo and Vnukovo as well as at the Zhukovsky military airport had to be suspended due to the attacks. According to Moscow, it was resumed after a short break. The major airports around the Russian capital have repeatedly had to be closed in recent days due to Ukrainian drone attacks. According to Russian information, no one was killed or injured in the previous attacks either.
Sixth consecutive night of attacks
Moscow and Kiev regularly report mutual drone strikes on their territories, with attacks on Russian territory increasing recently: it is the sixth night in a row that drone strikes have been reported in the capital region.
The United States said it does not support or facilitate attacks inside Russia. However, it is up to the Ukrainians how they want to defend themselves against the Russian invasion, said a spokesman for the US State Department on the incident. Russia could end the war at any time by withdrawing from Ukraine.
