Airbus: tests a marine aerial drone from a frigate

(CercleFinance.com) – Airbus Helicopters and Naval Group, in collaboration with the DGA (Directorate General of Armaments) and the French Navy, announce that they have tested the SDAM (Marine Aerial Drone System) demonstrator from Provence, a multi-purpose frigate -missions (FREMM).

The ship had previously been adapted by Naval Group to operate the SDAM. Carried out in the Mediterranean Sea, these tests aimed to demonstrate the high performance of the system on an operational warship and the capabilities of the SDAM for surveillance and intelligence missions.

‘By working alongside Naval Group and other local partners, we are building a robust and sovereign solution. We look forward to further demonstrating the potential of our system and collaborating with the French Navy to offer a first operational capability by 2026,’ commented Bruno Even, Director of Airbus Helicopters.
