In the landscape of social networks, it’s not easy to find a place between Facebook, Instagram, X or even TikTok. However, a new application has been getting a lot of attention since this weekend, as spotted by BFMTV: Airchat.
AI turns your voice into a post
In 23rd place among the most downloaded applications in the United States, Airchat is a social network based on artificial intelligence. Users record voice notes which are then transcribed into text posts by an AI model. It is therefore possible to read or listen to them via a dedicated button.
The recorded audio note can accompany the publication if the user wishes and the user can also change the reading speed.
According to Naval Ravikant (founder of Angellist) and Brian Norgard (former director of Tinder), Airchat’s AI is very effective and promises “perfect transcription of voice messages”. The app also allows you to generate your profile picture via technology.

As for the voice notes that you record to be transformed into text publications, the founders assure that they are not used or sold for the purpose of training an AI. However, they can be used to improve the application model.
In addition to this functionality which serves as the basis for Airchat, it is possible to respond to other users’ posts from the news feed and send private messages. The founders declare that they will “trying to put as many moderation tools in the hands of users as possible”.
Registration via an invitation system
Airchat is available for download in the App Store and Play Store, but registration requires being sponsored by a user. Knowing that most of the registrants come from Silicon Valley, it is not easy to register there at the moment for people located outside the American continent. For the moment, no monetization system is planned.
It remains to be seen whether the sauce will hold in the long term or whether, like many social networks which have had their moment of glory, Airchat will ultimately sink into oblivion.
