Apart from the price, the AirPods Max offers, according to our tester, a rather bass-heavy and average sound experience with excellent noise cancellation with only a subtle annoying background noise. The highlight is the digital crown, which is responsible for the operation of the AirPods Max.
The headphones also include a protective case that puts the AirPods Max into standby mode.
The headphones performed less well in the long-term test. Our test sample noticeably lost tension. This caused metal brackets to sit directly on the head, which is rather uncomfortable. Anyone who thinks that a hat or cap could possibly compensate for this may be bothered by the narrow temple width. They are also quite heavy at 386 grams.
