Who says new year also means new product launches in anticipation at Apple. While the AirPods 3 were launched in 2021 by the American manufacturer, the AirPods Pro 2 should be released in the course of the year 2022. At the dawn of this new year, it is the analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, generally very well informed about Apple’s projects, who gave some information about them.
As part of a note published for investors and spotted by the MacRumors site, the analyst from the firm TF international Securities reports some new features expected on the AirPods Pro 2. The first of them, and not the least , would support ALAC files lossless directly to the wireless headphones. A feature that was not supported on previous AirPods, nor on AirPods Max headphones due to Bluetooth bandwidth limitations. However, as a recent interview with Apple’s head of acoustic products indicates, the firm may be working on a new Bluetooth codec that both increases bandwidth and reduces latency on its products. .
A housing with a loudspeaker and a new design
In addition to this support for ALAC files – which would notably make it possible to take advantage of the lossless on Apple Music – Ming-Chi Kuo also reports that the manufacturer should review the casing of the wireless headphones. That of the AirPods Pro 2 would thus be equipped with a speaker in order to make it ring to find it easily within the Locate application on iOS. From then on, users could not only ring the headphones, but the case individually.
As for the expected launch of AirPods Pro 2, according to Ming-Chi Kuo they would be launched in the last quarter of 2022. They would also benefit from a new design. Nonetheless, while health features are expected on future generations of AirPods, it seems that this is not the case from the AirPods Pro 2 expected this year.
