AK-xolotl will revisit the aquatic fauna with force and crash in 2023

Clearly inspired by Enter the Gungeon, 2Awesome’s project is a shooter roguelite in top view where we have to go get food by slaughtering innocent creatures to feed our brood. To accomplish our fatherly butchery, we will have access to a selection of firearms, blunt weapons, bloody pentacles and other various powers. Result of a largely successful Kickstarter (135,000€ collected for 15,000€ requested), AK-xolotl is now published by Playstack, whose catalog also contains Mortal Shell and The Case of the Golden Idol. This little salamander delirium is in good hands.

We don’t make omelettes…

Over the levels, we must find eggs and bring them back to the hub. It’s time to lay down our arms, and feed our Axotatards with different recipes thanks to the provisions collected in game. These good little dishes increase the statistics of our offspring. A kind of culinary eugenics. Once we reach adulthood, we can embody our Axotadpoles to return to find more stray eggs, fetch food, and start the loop again with another litter. A simple and effective formula, in the canons of the genre, if we dare say.

AK-xolotl is fully aware of its absurd postulate (dare we say rod ?), fully playing the card of references and self-mockery. The most attentive will watch in the images below an obvious tribute to Akuma from Street Fighter and the taste of pixel art at Nitrome. Like a modern Flash game taste in your mouth.

Five biomes (with assigned bosses), a hundred axolotls and several dozen weapons and power-ups await you in 2023 on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. A demo is already available on Steam for the curious.
