The highly anticipated Alan Wake 2 from Remedy Entertainment, published by Epic Games, arrives on October 27 with stunning graphics entirely in raytracing, enhanced and accelerated by DLSS 3.5 with Ray Reconstruction. Players will explore two beautiful and terrifying worlds, featuring the most advanced graphics to date in video games, in search of the source of a supernatural darkness that has trapped Alan in a never-ending nightmare.

Alan Wake 2 is up to 4.5x faster with DLSS performance update

Enabling ray tracing and DLSS in Alan Wake 2 on a GeForce RTX GPU automatically enables Ray Reconstruction, replacing two denoisers with a unified AI model that improves ray tracing quality, making gameplay more immersive and graphics more realistic. Additionally, Ray Reconstruction runs up to 14% faster in our benchmarks, further accelerating performance for GeForce RTX gamers.

The combination of NVIDIA technologies gives NVIDIA GeForce RTX gamers the ultimate Alan Wake 2 experience, with stunning graphics and a remarkable increase in performance. Here are some examples :

  • In 4K, with all settings at maximum and full ray tracing enabled, activating Frame Generation, Ray Reconstruction and Super Resolution multiplies the number of frames per second astronomically. On the GeForce RTX 4090, performance is increased by 4.1x, allowing owners to play Alan Wake 2 at its best with over 120 FPS in 4K! The GeForce RTX 4080 sees its performance multiplied by 4.7, and the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti multiplies the performance by 4.7, for 4K gaming at nearly 80 FPS.
  • At 1440p, the GeForce RTX 40 series frames per second increase on average by 3x with full ray tracing and all other settings at maximum, allowing gaming at over 80 FPS with the GeForce RTX 4070 and more.
  • At 1080p, the most popular gaming resolution, performance increases by 2.7x on average, allowing owners of faster cards to play at up to 190 FPS.

The fully raytraced world of Alan Wake 2

Full ray tracing, also known as path tracing, accurately simulates light across an entire scene. It is used by visual effects artists to create film and television graphics indistinguishable from the real thing, but until the arrival of GeForce RTX GPUs with RT Cores and the AI-driven acceleration of NVIDIA DLSS 3.5, full real-time ray tracing in video games was impossible.

In Alan Wake 2, the RT High and RT Medium settings use path tracing. For more details, the following table shows the settings that use path tracing and ray tracing functions that are available when enabling each preset.
