(AOF) – Albioma announced Monday evening the acquisition of the La Granaudière wood pellet production plant, located in Canada in the province of Quebec. This operation, carried out at the end of a process organized by Raymond Chabot acting as receiver, allows the group to diversify its sources of sustainable biomass supply, in addition to the portfolio of contracts developed with leading international suppliers. .

“Ideally placed to supply the group’s West Indian power plants, this plant produces SBP certified pellets, from wood residues or low quality wood from forests certified for their sustainable management”, explained Albioma.

The transaction also includes a long-term access contract to a storage capacity of 45,000 tonnes of pellets at the port of Quebec, as well as raw material supply guarantees granted by the Ministry of Forests, Wildlife and Parks. of Quebec.

The re-commissioning of this plant, which has been shut down since July 2021 as part of the receivership, is scheduled for early 2022 and its nominal production capacity of 200,000 tonnes will be reached after additional investments have been made.
