Albioma carried by the rumor of an interest from KKR – 03/08/2022 at 09:34

(AOF) – Albioma rose 8.6% to 36.4 euros, supported by speculation. According to Bloomberg, the American private equity giant KKR & Co. is considering acquiring the French solar energy and biomass producer, as part of its expansion into the field of renewable energies. The discussion, still at the first stage, began on a valuation of Albioma of around 1.1 billion euros. KKR & Co would thus intend to position itself on the very buoyant energy transition market.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine confirmed the growing need for energy alternatives. According to Bloomberg, Albioma could also attract interest from other private equity and infrastructure investors, as well as oil and gas producers looking to boost their exposure to renewable energy.

In 2021, a JPMorgan fund acquired Italy’s Falck Renewables SpA for nearly $3 billion. This week, a consortium led by Australia’s Macquarie signed a deal to take over French solar farm developer Reden Solar SAS for an enterprise value of 2.5 billion euros.
