US star is charged with negligent homicide

Now it’s getting serious for Alec Baldwin! The Hollywood star will soon have to answer in court for negligent homicide.
If Alec Baldwin, 64, thought he’d gotten away with a black eye one more time, he’s now faced with the bitter reality. The actor faces a charge of involuntary manslaughter. It’s about the fatal accident on the set of his film “Rust” well over a year ago. A gun in the Hollywood star’s hand killed Halyna Hutchins, † 42, the film’s cinematographer. Since that fateful October day in New Mexico, the legal investigation into the incident has continued. Now Baldwin has to reckon with dire consequences.
Alec Baldwin could soon be in prison
First District Attorney for New Mexico Mary Carmack-Altwies and Special Attorney Andrea Reeb issued a written statement confirming their decision to pursue legal action against Baldwin. Also accused is Hannah Gutierrez, who was the weapons master on the set of the western. Dave Halls, the assistant director, has already pleaded guilty to charges of negligent use of a deadly weapon.
“If any of those three people – Alec Baldwin, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed or David Halls – had done his job, Halyna Hutchins would be alive today. It’s as simple as that,” said Andrea Reeb, the prosecutor’s appointed special prosecutor for the case. “The evidence clearly shows a pattern of criminal disregard for safety on the ‘Rust’ film set. There is no place in New Mexico for film sets that fail to take our state’s commitment to gun safety and public safety seriously,” she added. Both Baldwin and Gutierrez-Reed faces a maximum of 18 months in prison if convicted.
Baldwin denies allegations
Baldwin, 64, accidentally shot and killed Halyna Hutchins on the set of the western film in October 2021. For the past 15 months he has strongly denied responsibility for the accident. Contrary to a forensic FBI analysis to the contrary, he assured that he had not pulled the trigger.
