Wednesday December 13, 2023 in the evening, a 17-year-old teenager was taken care of by emergency services in Revel, in the Haute-Garonne department, around fifty kilometers from Toulouse. The possibility that it was Alex Batty was raised and his identity was confirmed the next day. A real relief for Susan Caruana, who was impatiently waiting to find her grandson. Saturday December 16, 2023, Alex Batty boarded a plane at Toulouse airport to go to London via Amsterdam. Members of the British police came to collect him and he was taken to Oldham, to his grandmother’s home. A reunion which was filmed by BFMTV. Alex Batty: a teenager happy to find his grandmother
Six years after his disappearance, Alex Batty was able to find his grandmother who was impatiently awaiting his return. In images revealed by BFMTV, the boy’s face is not visible. As Manchester Deputy Police Chief Matt Boyle explained, the goal is to preserve the teenager. “We want the community and the media to respect the privacy of this family”, he said. Concerning Alex Batty, reassuring news has been given. “It’s fantastic news, he’s back with his family just before Christmas. It’s a great story,” concluded Matt Boyle, who however did not mention the state of physical and moral health of the teenager. As a reminder, Alex Batty had already been able to contact his grandmother when he was found. He was given a phone and immediately left a message. “Hello grandmother, it’s me Alex, I’m in France in Toulouse, I hope you will receive this message, I love you, I want to come home”, he told her. For her part, Susan Caruana had confided “living a dream. It was incredible”. A story that ends well but the case is not yet closed. Investigators aim to find Alex Batty’s mother, who is the main suspect in this kidnapping. She remains presumed innocent of the charges against her.
