What hairstyles await us in 2024 and how can I get my hair even shinier? Star hairstylist & Head of Hair Haute Couture Alexander von Trentini answered BRIGITTE’s questions in an interview during the Haute Couture Fashion Week in Paris.

On this day, the entire city is surrounded by the magic of haute couture Fashion Week: In the artistically decorated Galerie Bourbon in Paris, just a minute away from the Arc de Triomphe, three gifted tailoring designers come together. Between hectic fittings, ironing stations and final checks, star hairstylist & Head of Hair Haute Couture Alexander from Trentini is also on site and gives the models in the luxurious gowns by Nurshah, Léna Erziak and Robert Abi Nader the final hairstyle touches . The Wiesbaden native spoke to BRIGITTE about hair trends and myths, but also revealed one or two practical expert tips.

BRIGITTE: Which hair trends will determine the year 2024?

Alexander of Trentini: It is timeless and modern at the same time Short Bob. I like it because the look has versatile styling options. It can be worn straight and sleek back, with a side parting, or blow-dried voluminously with a beautiful, round shape. They continue to be popular Curtain bangs. You will go through the Wispy Bangs added. Wispy bangs are a loose, frayed fringe that doesn’t require much styling, goes with many cuts, and suits many faces. We find a lot of uneven steps Shag cut. It can be worn in combination with the mullet and is particularly playful and trendy. When cutting, a smooth transition between the steps is very important. It is particularly suitable for hair that reaches the collarbone. But it also applies: Long longer the longest: The hair can also be worn as super long hair. A beautiful, suitable combination is light, natural waves that provide lightness. For this to happen, however, the hair must be completely healthy.

Which hair colors are particularly in demand this season?

Candlelight brown has a beautiful warm color shine and sets subtle accents with gold nuances. The color fascinates inconspicuously thanks to its well-thought-out color techniques, which conjure up a natural liveliness with sophistication. Brown once again lives up to its reputation: the hair color is both classic and exciting, natural and elegant at the same time. Naturally blond is the golden blonde in 2024. The characteristic is the darker roots and lightened lengths. The high-gloss finish is particularly important here because blonde meets brown. If the skin is light and porcelain-like, cooler shades of blonde are usually recommended. However, if fair skin tends to have freckles, the blonde can be warmer. The golden blonde goes very well here. Warm, characterful reds like this Cherry red skilfully flatter the facial features. However, caution is required when it comes to trendy red hair colors: If you have redness on your face, choose cooler shades, such as bluish or violet undertones. Pale guys can wear red hair colors like coral red very well. When it comes to porcelain skin, it can also be an intense cherry red.

What is the ideal care at home after coloring?

The colors in 2024 thrive on value because the focus is on healthy hair. It is important to maintain this: The regular use of a hair mask should be part of your hair routinebelong. The Glam Color Hair Mask .24 Chocolate from La Biosthétique refreshes warm brown reflections and strengthens them with a color refresher for 3-5 hair washes. This gives the hair a long-lasting, brilliant shine. Thanks to the warm, shimmering color nuances, this color suits many guys. To keep the deep brilliance of blonde for as long as possible, I like to mix a mask with the Structure Repair Hydraiting Drops. This gives the color longer durability, perfect shine and an extra portion of moisture.
For red tones, simply integrate a mask into your hair wash every now and then and nothing stands in the way of a long, intensely radiant color.

What style would you like to see out there more often?

A stylish and accurate style. This can be achieved by not just loosely knotting the strands, but simply tying the hair into a bun or knot with a little mousse or gel. This creates a much more luxurious and well-groomed look of higher quality. For an additional accent, two strands can be twisted out at the front. The look is complete, including a well-groomed hair structure.

Sometimes you want to try something new. This can quickly end in a major fiasco! How can I possibly tell in advance whether a haircut suits me?

Basically, you should always pay attention to your own face shape. It’s best not only to look at the contours from the front, but also to use a second mirror to see the side proportions. Then you can try yourself out in front of the mirror: take your hair out of your face and let it fall again to see how you look. It also helps to adjust the shape of the hairstyle contrary to the shape of the face. For example, if you have a prominent jawbone, you can make it appear softer with the right styling. The subconscious often gives clues about what suits you and what doesn’t.

There is currently some advice on TikTok & Co. to give your strands the perfect shine. Do you also have a special tip?

I swear that using really, really cold water definitely seals and strengthens the hair. This method gives the hair a slightly higher shine. Even with less regular use and subsequent cold fixing, the color remains longer.

What hair care mistake is made far too often?

What is often done wrong is applying the hair mask to the roots. The hair is of course still cared for along its length, but unfortunately it is also greasy at the roots, where the care is not supposed to go. To avoid this, it is best to lay your hair to the side or let it hang upside down when applying. Then work the mask into the lengths of your hair up to the ends. You should also avoid using too much heat, otherwise bleeding can occur as (color) pigments can fall out due to swelling.

What is the biggest hair myth to dispel?

The myth that you pull out one gray hair and then ten follow. This is complete nonsense.
