Alexis Corbière concerning the burkini in municipal swimming pools: “it has nothing to do with a debate on secularism”

Invited in the morning of CNEWS this Thursday morning, the deputy LFI Alexis Corbière explained that the wearing of the burkini in the municipal swimming pools did not belong in any way to a question of secularism.

“Wearing the burkini in municipal swimming pools has nothing to do with secularism.» says Alexis Corbière.

The LFI deputy returns to the debate concerning the wearing of the burkini in municipal swimming pools. For him, everything is a question of hygiene. “We don’t have to organize the way we bathe or walk around. It has nothing to do with secularism. In truth, it’s a hygiene debate.”

He also ensures that from a point of view of public freedom, there should be no debate on this subject. “From a point of view of public freedom, I can only accept that we can walk around with a yarmulke on our head or with a scarf. Whatever our personal opinions.”
