Alice in Borderland season 3: Netflix announces the good news that fans have been waiting for!

After a mind-blowing season 2, fans of the Japanese series Alice in Borderland were expecting a potential sequel. And Netflix has finally announced some good news!

Huge success on Netflix, Alice in Borderland is a live action adaptation of the shōnen of the same name by Haro Asō. The Japanese series, directed by Shinsuke Satō (Bleach), tells the story of the survival of Arisu (Kento Yamazaki) in an alternative Tokyo transformed into a life-size escape game, between The Hunger Games, Cube and Battle Royale.

As he advances in this dangerous universe, Arisu must participate in deadly games, with several levels of difficulty, and collect game cards to hope to escape this world controlled by mysterious entities.

After a promising first season in 2020, Alice in Borderland returned with a second round of episodes that was even bloodier and more explosive. This second season, put online in 2022, was a hit which allowed the Japanese series to set a record and be the most viewed during its launch weekend, with more than 61 million hours of viewing!

The second season of Alice in Borderland also lifted the veil on the true nature of the universe in which Arisu and his companions in misfortune operate. Despite these revelations, there are still dark sides to the mind-blowing end of season 2.

Even if the last episode of the second season of Alice in Borderland suggests that the protagonists have reached the end of their adventures, the presence of a new card from the game – The Joker – has raised hopes of a season 3 among fans.

Good news for Alice in Borderland fans!

And a little less than a year after the release of season 2 of the Japanese series, Netflix announced good news for fans: a season 3 has officially been ordered! It was on social networks that the streaming service made this announcement, declaring: “New season. New game” with a poster including this famous Joker card.

What does this card mean? Will Arisu and his friends have to return to the game? Or will the game return to torture new participants? For the moment, Netflix has not revealed any synopsis or casting for the new season of the Japanese series.

If the American giant wishes to expand the universe of Alice in Borderland, it could very well turn to an adaptation of other works by the author such as Alice on Border Roadwhich follows a schoolgirl stranded in an alternate version of Tokyo who fights game card possessors to return to her world.

Netflix might as well translate it to the screen Alice in Borderland: Return, in which Arisu returns to Borderland and faces a new series of games to escape and reunite with his pregnant wife. While waiting to have more information on the new episodes of Alice in Borderland, you can (re)watch the first two seasons of the series on Netflix.
