Alicia Vikander will play an American film diva for HBO. The template is the cult film "Irma Vep" by director Olivier Assayas.

Actress Alicia Vikander (32, "The Danish Girl") and director Olivier Assayas (65, "Personal Shopper") work together for HBO. The Swede and the Frenchman are working on a miniseries called "Irma Vep", which is said to be based on Assayas' 1996 film of the same name. Vikander is planned as both the leading actress and the producer, reports "Variety" among others.

The 1996 classic is about a Hong Kong actress who makes her debut in France. The series will now focus on an American film diva named Mira, who wants to open a new chapter in France. When trying to shoot the new edition of a French silent film classic, the boundaries between the artist and her character become increasingly blurred. When the series with Vikander will appear is not yet known.
