All about the area deal – new allegations in Hallein’s political dispute

According to the ÖVP, the current decision by the Hallein municipal council is illegal.

The controversial area deal at the Kurhotel St. Josef was approved by the Hallein municipal council on Thursday evening – the “Krone” reported. But the business will not calm down anytime soon. The ÖVP confronted Mayor Alexander Stangassinger (SPÖ) on Friday with new allegations. The owners of the area had paid the additional payment for the purchase price – in order to be able to resell the area – four days too late. The current land deal is therefore illegal, according to the ÖVP. The information about the deal, which Stangassinger wanted to prove by tape recording in the municipal council on Thursday, came more than two months later and was therefore too late. In addition, the mayor should have known about the late payment at the time. “The decision of the municipal council to legitimize the acceptance of the additional payment is therefore illegal,” says ÖVP city councilor Gottfried Aschauer. The ÖVP is convinced that if Stangassinger does not suspend the decision, there will be further suspicion of abuse of office.
