Speaking to Collider, actress Alfre Woodard recounted the filming of a particularly intense scene during the production of “Star Trek: First Contact”.
The crew members who travel inside the starship Enterprise, crisscrossing the universe in search of unknown planets in the Star Trek saga, aren’t always the only ones taking risks. It sometimes happens that their performers also find themselves in bad situations on the set of films.
Indeed, during the production of Star Trek: First Contact, the eighth film adaptation of the famous franchise produced in 1997 and notably carried by Patrick Stewart, a stunt sequence involving a huge explosion almost went wrong on the set. Even causing serious injuries for actress Alfre Woodard, who played Lily Sloane in the film.
As she had told at the microphone of Colliderwhile she came to discuss season 2 of the series See two years ago, the filming of this perilous sequence constitutes for her one of the most memorable memories of her Star Trek adventure:
“There was a huge explosion that we trained for about 5 hours”she explained, referring to a scene she shared with actor James Cromwell, who played Dr. Zefram Cochrane.

“My arms were bloody, and all the skin was gone.”
“We trained for hours and hours, and when the scene arrived, the explosion was so intense that it knocked us down. We fell wherever we could.
I managed to raise my head, [James] had his head next to it and we said the line. And then I ran to Jonathan [Frakes, le réalisateur]. My arms were bloody, and all the skin was gone. Obviously the costume was torn. I told him I had ruined the costume and my arms were bleeding. He replied: ‘It’s good! We have it !’ And he left.”
A stunt that is approximate to say the least, and painful for the actress, but which she nevertheless evokes today with humor.
