Take-Two Interactive: in addition to layoffs, the publisher plans to close two popular studios…

In recent weeks, we have learned of the acquisition of Gearbox Entertainment by Take-Two Interactive hands ofEmbracer Group, which itself will no longer exist in this way. There followed a report of Bloomberg announcing the layoff of 5% of the workforce among the various studios owned by the publisher behind the Grand Theft Auto. Well, it’s not over yet, because Jason Schreier now informs us of a very sad decision.

In his articlethe journalist declares that Take-Two Interactive plans to close two of its subsidiaries as part of this wave of layoffs, information that he was able to see by accessing certain documents. Although vice president of communications Alan Lewis declined to provide details when asked, there’s not much doubt given Jason Schreier’s history.

The two studios involved are well known and appreciated for their games. The first is Roll7based in London, which is behind the OlliOlli and recently Rollerdrome. Compensation will be offered to all staff. Private Divisionwho belongs to Take Twobought it in 2021 and therefore only published its last two games, a great waste… The second is Intercept Games in Seattle, which was created in 2020 to manage Kerbal Space Program 2. A notice filed at the beginning of the week with the Washington State Employment Security Department reveals the closure of an office in the city by the publisher and the elimination of 70 jobs, approximately the number of people working at Intercept Games. However, updates should continue to be made to KSP2but it will therefore not be via his current team.

Let us hope that all those impacted will subsequently find employment.
