Alpine accident in Tyrol – missing hiker found dead after days

After days of uncertainty, there is now clarity in the Ausserfern in Tyrol: A missing hiker could only be found dead on Tuesday. The local (54) had not returned home on Sunday.

His relatives alerted the police around 8 p.m. on Sunday after the man had not yet returned from a planned hike to the Kasermandl Alm in Elbigenalp. A search began that same evening and continued on Monday and Tuesday. Among other things, the police helicopter, two drones from the police and mountain rescue services as well as the alpine police and several search dogs were involved. Then, on Tuesday morning, the sad certainty: around 11 a.m., the missing person was found dead in a wooded area. It is assumed that he had an accident, third-party fault is ruled out.
