Expert care tips for your bra

We all know that moment of uncertainty when we want to wash our bras. How often should you wash them? What do you have to pay attention to? Our bras then often simply disappear together with other items of clothing in some laundry drum. So much can go wrong when it comes to bra care.

A Tik-Toker from the UK found out from her friend in a group chat that she only washes her bras once a year and then started a poll on Tik-Tok to find out how often her users would wash their bras. The opinions probably differ very widely – from once a year to wearing it once, everything is really included…

How often should I wash my bra now?

Fortunately, there are experts who are very familiar with the field of underwear care. The lingerie label Marie Jo recommends washing the brassiere after wearing it two or three times.

Tips for the washing process

We often tend to cut out the sewn-on labels straight away, although the small tag contains extremely important washing information. That means: before washing, take a quick look at the label and place the bra in a laundry net so that it is well protected and the other items of clothing are not damaged. According to the Marie Jo brand, it is also important that the laundry drum is only filled to a third and the bras should be washed on a gentle cycle at around 30 degrees and with a few turns. And the choice of detergent is also crucial: the experts advise avoiding bleach and fabric softeners and preferring to use liquid detergent.

Goodbye tumble dryer

We have to be strong now: in the future we have to do without our quick helper, the tumble dryer, at least for our bras and let the brassieres without cups dry on the drying rack. You should also avoid wringing out your lingerie.

Storage is the A&O

Patience is required here: It is super important that the cups are sorted into the drawer one after the other – only then will they retain their original shape.
