Investigations are currently underway in Wiener Neustadt against two police officers on suspicion of robbery. The employees, aged 22 and 24, were suspended. Disciplinary proceedings have already been initiated.
One of the men is said to have snatched a packet of tobacco from a boy. Police spokesman Raimund Schwaigerlehner confirmed the incident on Wednesday. The younger police officer has since resigned from law enforcement service. Both were drunk. The two boys were waiting for a taxi in the early hours of September 18 when the incident happened, the spokesman said. The victims informed the police, the colleagues were investigated. According to Schwaigerlehner, the 22 and 24-year-olds were under the influence of alcohol. The further investigations were carried out by the State Criminal Police Office of Lower Austria (robbery area). According to the police spokesman, a complaint has already been made to the public prosecutor’s office in Wiener Neustadt. As far as further measures against the 24-year-old are concerned, the outcome of the court proceedings is awaited.
