BASF: 12.9% decline in adjusted EPS in the 1st quarter


(CercleFinance.com) – BASF announces that its sales reached 17.55 billion euros for the 1st quarter, down 12.2% compared to the same period a year earlier.

Activity declined in each of the segments, whether for the Chemicals division (-2.4%), Materials (-10.5%), Industrial Solutions (-4%), Surface Technologies (-26.9%), Nutrition & Care (-5.3%), Agricultural Solutions (-10.6%) and Other (-16%).

EBIT for its part fell by 9.5%, to 1,689 ME, while net profit stood at 1,368 ME, marking a decline of 12.4% compared to the 1st quarter of 2023.

Adjusted EPS came to 1.68 euros (-12.9%).

In this context, the Board of Directors and the Supervisory Board of BASF SE will propose to the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders a dividend of E3.40 per share, corresponding to the level of the previous year.

BASF confirms its 2024 forecasts, notably with an EBITDA before special items of between 8 and 8.6 billion euros and an FCF between 0.1 and 0.6 billion euros.
