Alstom: contract for a monorail in the Dominican Republic


(CercleFinance.com) – Alstom announces that the SIF consortium it leads, and also including Sofratesa, has been selected by the Dominican Republic’s FITRAM to deliver an Innovia integrated monorail system to the city of Santiago de los Caballeros.

Once completed, this system, 13 kilometers long and comprising 14 stations, will be the first of its kind in the country and in the Caribbean. It is sized to transport up to 20,000 passengers per hour and per direction.

In this contract, Alstom is responsible for the integration, testing and commissioning of the entire system, including the 13 Innovia Monorail 300 automated trains of four cars. His share of the contract amounts to approximately 370 million euros.

The French transport equipment manufacturer points out that this contract, worth a total of 500 million euros, is the first for an Innovia monorail system signed since its acquisition of Bombardier Transport.
