(CercleFinance.com) – Alstom today announced the first results of the first North American demonstration of a hydrogen train.
The Coradia iLint transported more than 10,000 passengers on more than 130 trips totaling 10,660 kilometers in Quebec this summer, from mid-June to the end of September.
‘The demonstration allowed our railway partner to save around 8,400 liters of diesel and avoid the emission of 22 tonnes of CO2 compared to the diesel trains which normally serve this line’, indicates the French firm.
In addition, Alstom and its partners hosted 34 commercial, government and regulatory delegations from across North America who witnessed the implementation of this hydrogen propulsion technology and noted the requirements necessary for its implementation more wide across North America.
