Alstom wins a 387 million euro contract for metros in India


The company will supply trains for the Indian cities of Bhopal and Indore.

The railway manufacturer Alstom announced on Wednesday that it had won a contract to supply metro trains and a signaling system for the Indian cities of Bhopal and Indore, for 387 million euros.

This contract with the MPMRCL (Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited) provides for the delivery of “156 Movia cars with 15 years of full maintenance for Bhopal and Indore metros“, specifies the press release. “This project will benefit more than 5.7 million people in these two cities. Estimated at 387 million euros, this order includes the installation of the latest generation of CBTC signaling system, as well as train control and telecommunications systems, each including seven years of integral maintenance“.

Alstom will beresponsible for the design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of 52 standard Movia metro trains, each consisting of 3 cars. 27 trains are destined for Bhopal and 25 for Indore“, is it detailed. These oarsultramodern and lightwill be manufactured at Alstom’s rolling stock factory in Savli, Gujarat, and will run “at a top speed of 80 km/h, on 31 km of lines with 30 stations in Bhopal, and 31.5 km of lines with 29 stations in Indore“.
